These are the macro themes that will be explored in the full programme of events at Vicenzaoro September – The Jewellery Boutique Show. Italian Exhibition Group’s international show will be back at Vicenza Expo Centre from 6th to 10th September 2024 accompanied, from the 6th to 8th, by VO’Clock Privé, the free-entry event open to the public dedicated to contemporary watchmaking. The opening ceremony will take place on Friday 6th September at 11.30 am in the Expo Centre’s Palladio Theatre.
SECTOR DATA FOR THE JEWELLERY COMMUNITY
Friday 6th September, at 3 pm, will feature the event organised by Club degli Orafi Italia and Intesa Sanpaolo’s Research Department on “Demand, technology and sustainability: the expectations of Italian jewellery companies in the current geopolitical context”. Based on sector data for the early months of 2024, which show vitality despite the global economic challenges, discussions will regard market evolution, excise duties, competitiveness and business investments with a focus on technological and environmental implications with Maria Cristina Squarcialupi , president of Club degli Orafi Italia and UnoAerre Industries, vice-president of Federorafi with responsibility for sustainability; Sara Giusti, economist at Intesa Sanpaolo; Augusto Ungarelli, Centro Studi Club degli Orafi Italia; Stefano Rocca, chief operating officer at Gismondi 1754 and Alessandro Aresu, scientific advisor at Limes.
EVOLUTION OF LUXURY AND CONSUMER TRENDS
One of the most eagerly awaited appointments at Vicenzaoro September is the preview of new jewellery trends organised by Trendvision Jewellery + Forecasting, IEG’s independent observatory directed by Paola De Luca. At VOS24, for the first time, the focus on jewellery trends will double up to two different events. On Saturday 7th September, at 11 am, an international panel of experts will be leading the event entitled “Wonderland: Co-Creating the Future of Luxury and Jewellery”. Focus will be on the evolution of luxury in relation to culture integration, technology, new values and consumption methods. Sunday 8th September, at 10.30 am, will see the presentation of the new Trendbook 2026+, an international reference for the jewellery market, which will explore trends and consumer evolution with forecasts for the next 18 months.
CIBJO: THE NEW FRONTIERS OF RESPONSIBLE JEWELLERY
Sustainability and social responsibility have always been at the heart of meetings organised by CIBJO, the World Jewellery Confederation. Topics under discussion on Sunday 8th September will be the prospects of using recycled gold (in a talk in collaboration with the World Gold Council), traceability in the various jewellery sectors, the growing gap between the natural diamond and lab-grown diamond markets and the industry’s role in protecting biodiversity (in an event in collaboration with the Watch & Jewellery Initiative 2030). Speakers will include Iris Van der Veken, executive director for the Watch & Jewellery Initiative 2030; Francesca Manfredi , head of innovation for Watches & Jewellery at Kering; Tai Wong, director of global innovation & product development at Platinum Guild International; Raluca Anghel, head of external and industry relations for the Natural Diamond Council; John Mulligan, director of market relations & climate change lead for the World Gold Council and chairman of CIBJO’s sustainable development committee; and Edward Johnson, corporate responsibility director at Gemfields Group.
On Thursday 5th September, CIBJO will also be collaborating in the organisation of the IPMI – International Precious Metals Institute’s training seminar, to be held on the day before the opening of Vicenzaoro September, during which precious metals and jewellery will be discussed with experts and industry stakeholders.
TRAINING, SKILLS, JEWELLERY PROTECTION
Creativity and the value of humility in jewellery will be the focus of Assogemme’s “Future legacy: the suspended time of the creative act” event, scheduled for Saturday 7th September, with Luca Iacomucci, freelance high jewellery designer for Louis Vuitton.
New skills and the use of Artificial Intelligence in jewellery will be discussed in Federpreziosi Confcommercio’s Retail Talk (Monday 9th September) by, among others, Guido Di Fraia, pro-rector of Innovation and Artificial Intelligence at IULM; Stefano Andreis, president of Federpreziosi Confcommercio Imprese per l’Italia and Francesco Ponzi, coordinator of Federpreziosi Giovani.
Consumer confidence, traceability and actions to make precious material trade easier will be the focus of the event on the Vienna Convention on the Control and Marking of Precious Metal Articles, scheduled for Saturday, 7th September, in collaboration with Hallmarking Convention and Vicenza Assay Office – Made in Vicenza, a company belonging to the Vicenza Chamber of Commerce. Instead, the topic of the talk on Monday 9th September will be “The struggle against illegality in the gold sector, protection of Made in Italy and the fight against precious metal smuggling”, organised in collaboration with the Financial Police and the Vicenza Customs Office.
“D.OR Campania: an extraordinary opportunity for development”,scheduled for Sunday 8th September, will be the presentation event of a new initiative for the Campania goldsmith district attended by representatives from the Campania Region. The Show will also host Gem Talks, training meetings for gemmologists in collaboration with IGI – Italian Gemmological Institute, dedicated to scientifically checking the authenticity of diamonds and the world of opaque gems (Sunday 8th September).
