The Camellia charms on new Chanel watches and rings

Chanel has revamped the Première watch with the addition of Gabrielle Chanel’s favorite camellia charm to the familiar, discreet models. It flourished on everything: from shoes, dresses, jewelry and bags to lacquered screens in her Paris apartment. Camellia was her trademark, almost as recognizable as the double C.

Before Coco, this flower carried a slightly different meaning. In France, the flower was made popular among the aristocracy by Napoleon’s first wife, Empress Josephine Beauharnais. So, it quickly became a symbol of dandies and courtesans, a sign of passion and painful love, as reflected in the novel by Alexandre Dumas “The Lady of the Camellias”. Said that Gabrielle Chanel fell in love with these flowers.

In the new jewels, buds made of 18-karat gold appeared not only on watches, produced in a limited edition of 1000 pieces but also on one of the rings from a line named after a flower. In addition to the pendant, it is decorated with two more camellias, slightly larger in size.
