“Muscular” corsets, earrings-dress and modern Virgin Mary in the Schiaparelli Haute Couture collection

Elsa Schiaparelli is the main surrealist from fashion, and that says it all. She collaborated with the main artists of her time, made the most unimaginable things like skeleton dresses and slipper hats and shocked the decorous Parisian public long before Instagram and the associated need to surprise every time.

The new Schiaparelli couture collection is pure surrealism. “Muscular” corsets with cubes of the press, a dress-earrings or earrings-dress, which have already become iconic gold jewelry of huge sizes, traditional surrealist details in the form of noses, lips and eyes, a lock bag and even a modern Virgin Mary with a golden baby in her arms!

The huge pink bow refers to a dress from Elsa Schiaparelli’s collection of 1947, and the gold embroidery on the jacket refers to the famous surreal costumes that “Elsa Furious” created with Jean Cocteau.
