“Istanbul memorıes on the balconıes” – Let’s listen the magic story of the new collection from the designer;

“Spending my childhood in the blissful island Büyükada (Big Island), I had the opportunity to experience a slower, more gentle way of living, almost as if time had stopped in an era filled with nostalgia. I wandered and gazed at the charming Ottoman era mansions all around the island, hopped on a bike, feeling the wind on my face, and with the setting sun, returned back home with a warm heart… The balcony attached to my little bedroom was my safe haven… A place where I got back to at the end of the day, where I waited for my father to return back home from work, and stared into the beauty of the island looking forward to see a familiar face… Istanbul… A City that architecturally enchants me, has transformed into my main source of inspiration. Within this juxtaposition of extreme opposites lies hidden beauty. So out there, yet so out of sight, these stunning balconies seem like the only constant in Istanbul’s changing fabric… A safe space where the beauty of history and architecture remain preserved…I believe that the idea of beauty is on a constant shift.

The world we live in is much more expansive, and “beauty lies everywhere”. These diamonds in the rough lay up above a buzzing city, above the delightful islands of the Marmara Sea, and has turned into my interpretation of defying classical beauty ideals. Looking back into my childhood on the island, I’ve drawn inspiration from my own past and have rekindled those feelings through this collection. It almost feels as if I’m traveling back in time, which makes this collection carry a special place in my heart. With Balconies I’ve re-imagined sitting on one of these balconies that decorate the city, but this time as a grown woman, rather than a little girl… With a bottle of wine, having late night conversations about life, the universe, about anything that comes to mind. It’s my shelter where I can be totally myself, invite people over, disconnect and truly “re-connect’… A space within a space that carries so much meaning for me… As Kismet by Milka, we believe in healing the soul first; then the mind and body will follow. Taking a deep breath on this beautiful order high above, where we feel on top of the world, is like taking a step towards healing and transformation. We’ve focused on the powerful, euphoric, magical, synchronistic, beautiful parts of life, and these exquisite spaces have transformed into our gateway where we disconnect and enjoy our own company…”
