Holiday Lookbook: Skıes of Puerto Rıco

SKIES OF PUERTO RICO

Award-winning muralist and street artist Alexis Diaz was responsible for the creative concept of this cover.

Why a Holiday book? Because it allows us to dream, and, as tradition, the long-awaited Reinhold Holiday book returns, in its 21st edition, always refreshing and innovative, reminding us that the festive season has arrived. This time it is entirely dedicated to the skies of Puerto Rico, witnesses of countless poems of love, promises, but also the guardian of all those who inhabit this beautiful island.

What began more than two decades ago as a luxurious catalog to promote the most coveted designs of the time has evolved into something truly treasured, highly curated, and even collected that awakens both our passion and curiosity and the intrigue of discovering what is behind each jewelry represented in each of the 126 pages harmonized with amazing sunsets and sunrises.  A selection of 52 top jewelry designers graces our holiday book pages with their latest collection pieces, an exclusive design from local designer ITÄ to a one-of-a-kind selection from Monica Rich Kossan, Sevan, Sylvia Furmanovich, Almasika, and a few styles from Rosa Van Parys.

There are many stories behind this book, many characters, and many tributes, all ideated by the iconic matriarch herself, Mary Helene Reinhold since day one from our architecture to our flora. Nothing has escaped the Reinhold management team led by Mildred Marcano and María Del Mar Ney-Martinez. And although we have all changed, there has always been a constant; we live under the same sky that covers us, and always the clear sky. A sky that dresses our mountains and our beaches that always depend on its splendor. That sky, which belongs to all of us, which we can all call our own, is the true protagonist of this story. That sky is the same sky that we all look at waiting for a signal crossing our fingers, the same one that speaks to us, the same one that keeps all our desires, the one that welcomes us on each return and confirms that we are not in New York or Tokyo, but we are at home, we are in Puerto Rico.

According to Yael Reinhold Lipnik, “In a universe where everything is uncertain, at the end of the day, we can all count on the majesty of this sky, an inexhaustible source of inspiration that reminds us of our infinite possibilities … when we think about the future or about a loved one that he is no longer with us, we think of heaven”.

For the realization of this Holiday lookbook, Reinhold had a unique team one hundred percent Puerto Rican up to the task. For the fourth time, the photos highlighting the Guánica sunflowers and the totem pole in Old San Juan, among others, were in charge. From the unique lens of Xavier García and Natalia Pi Skurman, a graduate of the Savannah College of Art and Design, was responsible for the art direction.

For its part, the original illustrations – poppies and friendly buzzers – that intertwine the story with jewels by David Yurman, Carolina Bucci, Tane, and Temple St. Clair, Pomellato, Sylvia & Cie, and many others, were the work of the renowned artist and muralist Alexis Díaz, Co-founder of the urban festival Los Muros Hablan, who has already left his mark in London, Berlin, Hong Kong, Sao Paulo, and New York among others.

It took a total of 10 months, endless hours, and around 500 photos. But, in total, only 500 copies and 100 posters were printed that will be autographed by Alexis Díaz himself and given to the public in the town during the exclusive launch event of one-of-a-kind pieces created by various designers.
