GEMBRIDGE APPOINTS COLOURED GEMSTONE AND ANTIQUE JEWELLERY DEALER AS GERMANY AMBASSADOR

Digital coloured gemstone trading platform Gembridge is delighted to announce that it has appointed Ioannis Alexandris, a gemstone and antique jewellery dealer, author and a director and communications committee chair of the International Colored Gemstone Association (ICA), to expand its business in Germany and from his other international offices.

Ioannis, CEO of GEMOLITHOS, a high-end antique jewellery and gemstones supplier with offices in Munich, Hong Kong, Beijing, London and Malaysia, will join a network of Gembridge industry ambassadors around the world.

He has traded coloured gemstones and antique jewellery at the top end of the market and taken part in high-value transactions involving natural coloured diamonds.

“My ambition is to bring in top dealers in Germany to Gembridge’s digital marketplace,” Ioannis said.

Ioannis will bring in suppliers from the country’s gemstone cradle, Idar-Oberstein, which has a long history in cutting and polishing exquisite gemstones from around the world.

“Digital coloured gemstone trading in Germany, as elsewhere, is still in the early stages of its development, and so a solid and unique platform like Gembridge has arrived on the scene at the right time as a pioneer, offering secure trading with trust and responsibility,” he said.

As well as coloured gemstones, Ioannis is passionate about antique jewellery. His book, “Antique Jewelry 1800-1939”, has been nominated as recommended reading in Chinese university courses.

“It is with pleasure that we welcome Ioannis as the Gembridge ambassador to Germany, bringing a wealth of experience not only in the coloured gemstone business but also his speciality which is antique and estate jewellery,” Gembridge Chairman Tony Brooke said.

Helen Molesworth, Gembridge’s Head of Business Development, said, “Ioannis’s knowledge and experience in the high-end gem and jewellery markets, both in Germany with its all-important gem centre of Idar Oberstein, and internationally, will bring strong support to our global strategy for the digitalisation of coloured gemstone trading.”

Gembridge is helping to pioneer the digital transformation of the coloured gemstone trade. It provides a marketplace for members to buy, sell and consign, via a secure, verified and insured door-to-door service.

Gembridge is a commercial member of the World Jewellery Confederation, CIBJO, and is a member of the International Colored Gemstone Association (ICA) and the Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC.)

Gembridge is regulated by Singapore’s Ministry of Law for purposes of anti-money laundering and countering the financing of terrorism, in cooperation with the Financial Action Task Force.
