106 RARE VINTAGE CHANEL JEWELS WILL BE AUCTIONED

Many of them exist in a single copy.

Christie’s will auction 106 rare Chanel jewelry pieces created by Karl Lagerfeld. Many of them exist in a single copy and were created according to the sketches of the legendary designer especially for the shows of the French House.

The online auction will take place from 14 to 29 January next year. All jewels was created in the 80’s and 90’s – a period that is considered perhaps the most important in Lagerfeld’s collaboration with Chanel.

The starting price of lots ranges from $ 200 to $ 6,000. According to experts, during the auction, the final cost of individual items can reach $ 163,000.

All items were previously in the collection of Susan and John Gutfreund – friends of Karl Lagerfeld, to whom the legendary designer personally donated many jewels. The auction house said the collection “provides a glimpse into the golden era of Lagerfeld at Chanel.”

This collection is currently the largest private collection of Chanel jewelry put up for auction.
