104-ct Dıamond Necklace Sells for $5.9m

A platinum necklace with 104.84 carats of D-color diamonds sold for $5.9m at Christie’s Hong Kong Magnificent Jewels Sale.

It was the top lot in an auction that netted a total of over $46m.
Just over $11m of that was from the sale of 51 pieces from a collection including Cartier, Buccellati, Bulgari, Van Cleef & Arpels, Louis Vuitton, and Boghossian that belonged to retired Hong Kong actress Rosamund Kwan.
The headline necklace (not one of her pieces) comprised 52 round brilliant-cut diamonds of 7.14-ct to 1.07-ct, all flawless to internally flawless clarity, excellent cut, polish and symmetry. The estimate was $4.8m to $7.5m.
Christie’s reported sell-through rates of 86 per cent by lot and 82 per cent by value and drew global participation from 21 countries.
