World record for auctıon of watches

Phillips teamed up with Bacs & Russo to hold an auction that grossed $ 74.5 million, setting the world record for the auction of watches. This final amount significantly exceeded the pre-sale estimate of $ 41.2 million.

The two-day event brought together collectors from over 83 countries, over 2,300 registered online bidders and over 400 people in person at the auction. It is noteworthy that half of the watches were sold to online bidders. Leading the lot, the Philippe Dufour Grande & Petite Sonnerie watch in yellow gold was sold for 4.75 million Swiss francs (about $ 5.2 million), setting not only a new world price record for any Philippe Dufour watch sold at auction, but and for any watch made by an independent watchmaker.
