Vera Wang desıgns hıgh jewellery for Jared atelıer
Throughout the 90s and early 00s, Vera Wang‘s bridal gown and couture businesses propelled her to pop culture icon status. Now, she is the latest fashion designer entering the high jewellery sphere, with a diamond-strewn collection for Jared Atelier.
The New York-based couturier has collaborated with the high jewellery arm of retailer Jared (one of the world’s largest diamond retailers) to design a 14-piece collection, divided into three key themes: Ribbons, Serpents and Diamond Strings.
The one-off Jared Atelier x Vera Wang collection “reflects a highly personal composition of design elements both architectural and organic. There are pieces that embrace a certain minimalism with an intentional does of cool and romanticism. Each theme celebrates a unique story,” Wang announced on her Instagram page.
The Ribbons set was inspired by Wang’s renowned bridal designs (as worn over the years by everyone from Ariana Grande and Khloe Kardashian, to Vanessa Hudgens, Gwen Stefani and Mariah Carey. Hailey Bieber had a Vera Wang gown as her reception dress). “I’ve been doing bows for 35 years,” Wang told WWD. “It’s one of our codes… I think we were very early to do a minimalist bow, which we called Love Knots.”
With the Serpent themed pieces, Wang honours the ancient symbol of the snake as one of “rebirth, transformation and wisdom, these forms, especially in Chinese culture, celebrate good fortune, health and prosperity.” Finally, Wang’s Diamond Strings designs are a tribute to her late friend and fellow trailblazing designer, Elsa Peretti, and aim to capture “casual elegance, with a seductive fluidity.
