Turkısh jewellery exports reach USD 2.6 bıllıon

In the first half of 2022, Turkish jewellery exports grew by 8.9 percent year-over-year to USD2.6 billion. Chairman of Jewellery Exporters’ Association (JTR) Burak Yakın said: “We are taking steps in line with our goal of getting into new markets.”

Jewellery Exporters’ Association (JTR) published its industry report for the first half of the year together with its June data. According to the information based on the Turkish Exporters’ Assembly (TEA) data, total jewellery exports in the first six months of the year surpassed USD2,6 billion. Exports grew by 8.95 percent year-over-year. In the meantime, in June, exports declined by 9.8 percent year-over-year to USD535.8 million.

Commenting on the jewellery exports in the first half of the year, Chairman of Jewellery Exporters’ Association Burak Yakın underlined the industry’s continued growth, and added: “We continue without pause our efforts aimed at boosting our industry’s added value. We believe that growth of our exports also requires the development of the industry base, and we are making major strides to this end. We are also taking steps to introduce Turkish Jewellery to new markets and elevate it to the position it deserves. We aim to achieve stronger results in the latter half of the year.”

Demand for diamond gold jewellery almost doubled

According to TEA data showing changes in exports on a product basis in the jewellery industry, ‘gold jewellery’ was the top export item in the first half of the year. The high level of growth recorded by exports reached 41.9 percent year-over-year, rising to USD2.155 billion. ‘Gold unwrought or in semi-manufactured gold’ category ranked second with USD205.5 million in exports. Exports of products in the ‘Diamond gold jewellery’ category gained high momentum, growing by 91.8 percent year-over-year. The category ranked third with exports of USD135.6 million. ‘Silver jewellery’ ranked fourth with exports up by 18 percent to USD76.8 million.

Highest imports to United Arab Emirates in June, United States in the first half of the year

United Arab Emirates was the top importer for jewellery that is exported by Türkiye in June. Exports to the country grew by 151 percent year-over-year to USD135.7 million. United States ranked second with USD73 million, followed by Hong Kong with USD51 million. Iraq was fourth with exports of USD41.7 million and Kyrgyzstan was fifth with USD21 million.

In the first half of the year, the United States was the top importer with USD505.7 million, pointing to a 31 percent growth, followed by United Arab Emirates with exports of USD472.3 million and 78 percent growth, and Hong Kong with 44 percent growth and USD282 million. Iraq ranked fourth with exports of USD152.5 million and Israel fifth with USD128.6 million.
