The Portuguese soccer star, 40, and Argentinian model, 31, announced their engagement after eight years of dating with an Instagram post starring the bride-to-be’s new diamond sparkler, which is so massive in size, it became instant breaking news.

Although details of the eye-catching rock have yet to be revealed by the engaged couple and their jeweler, experts worldwide have already put their bets on everything from the ring’s cost to exactly what and how many diamonds were used to create the mountain of gemstones.

Tobias Kormind, the managing director over at 77 Diamonds in London, believes Rodriguez’s blinding accessory to be worth approximately 35 carats — and that’s just the oval center stone alone. He believes that the massive stunner is flanked by oval sides stones set in platinum, which he estimates are about one carat each, setting the ring at a nice 37 carats.

The ring’s grandeur size, for Kormind, ranks high alongside the famous Taylor-Burton Diamond, a 69.42 carat pear shape stone gifted to Elizabeth Taylor by Richard Burton, who reportedly bought it from Cartier, who bought the rarity for over $1 million at auction. Kormind believes that Rodriguez’s ring has a $5 million price tag.

Laura Taylor, engagement ring specialist at Lorel Diamonds, describes Rodriguez’s rock as “extraordinary,” boasting what she believes to be an oval-cut diamond ranging between 15 to 20 carats.
