The long-awaited exhibition “Brilliant and Black: A Jewelry Renaissance” kicks off in New York at Sotheby’s, where one of the main events should be a ring from Los Angeles designer Maggie Simpkins. This piece is very reflective of her unique style with stylized botanical elements, glamorous art deco motifs.

The ring, with its burst of petals and variegated pink gemstones, is a flawless whimsical pink diamond. The rarity of this brilliant-cut stone alone accounts for much of the price tag of this one-of-a-kind gem: $ 1 million. All accent stones have been cut to order. The ring can be seen at Sotheby’s galleries in New York on September 17-26.
