Arctıc Canadıan Dıamond Company has unearthed a 71.26-carat yellow dıamond

The company recovered the stone from the Misery Pipe at its Ekati mine in Canada’s Northwest Territories. That portion of the deposit is known for producing high-quality yellow diamonds, Arctic Canadian noted. Recently, the miner sold a parcel of fancy-yellow diamonds from Ekati weighing up to 17.8 carats to Australia’s Burgundy Diamond Mines.

“This historic fancy-vivid-yellow gemstone continues to showcase Canada as a major player on the world stage for diamond mining,” said Arctic Canadian CEO Rory Moore. “Canadian diamonds are some of the most sought after globally because of responsible mining practices and environmental stewardship. This stone is a testament to Ekati’s ability to deliver value now and into the future.”

Arctic Canadian bought Ekati in 2021 from Dominion Diamond Mines, after Dominion’s insolvency forced it to sell its assets to its debt holders.
