Van Cleef & Arpels has returned wıth new creatıons for ıts Lucky Sprıng collectıon

Since its debut in 2021, Lucky Spring has distilled the season into jewellery that feels light in spirit yet exacting in execution. The addition of the butterfly is a natural progression. Present in the repertoire since 1906, the creature has appeared across generations of clips and rings. Here, it brings a sense of motion to the collection – wings open or gently poised, suggesting a fleeting moment held in gold and stone. A symbol of metamorphosis and grace, it also serves as a poetic reminder of life’s ephemeral beauty, aligning seamlessly with the collection’s themes of renewal and new beginnings.

Craftsmanship remains central. This year marks the introduction of yellow gold alongside rose gold, lending the pieces a brighter warmth. Each element is shaped using the lost-wax casting method, then meticulously hand-polished to achieve a smooth, luminous finish. Beaded contours and subtle texturing give definition to petals and wings, allowing light to move softly across the surface. The result is a series of creations that radiate with a gentle glow, echoing the first rays of spring sunshine and underscoring the Maison’s dedication to exceptional savoir-faire.

Among the highlights are the long necklace and the Between the Finger ring, both animated by butterfly motifs. Three butterflies punctuate the necklace in alternating poses, creating a gentle rhythm along the chain, as though fluttering delicately across the skin. On the ring, plum blossoms and lily-of-the-valley buds frame the butterfly in a composition that feels balanced yet alive, as if caught mid-bloom. The dialogue between these motifs creates a dynamic visual story, evoking a miniature landscape where flora and fauna coexist in perfect harmony.

A considered palette of ornamental stones deepens the collection’s character. Blue and green agate, lapis lazuli and white mother-of-pearl introduce saturated colour and iridescence, offsetting the warmth of gold. Each stone is chosen for tonal consistency and clarity, ensuring harmony across every creation. Their vivid hues and subtle shimmer heighten the pieces’ sense of vitality, transforming each jewel into a small celebration of spring’s energy and light.

Beyond jewellery, the Lucky Spring story extends to the Lady Lucky Spring Butterfly watch. Set within a 33mm case, the dial unfolds as a miniature scene: white mother-of-pearl plum blossoms edged in yellow-gold beading, polished gold branches and textured leaves. A lily-of-the-valley-shaped aperture, outlined in gold, reveals a white mother-of-pearl disc that discreetly indicates the time. Here, watchmaking and jewellery design meet in a poetic vignette that captures the season’s quiet charm.
